BANKS PENINSULA: Onuku

A planned four day walk over the Akoroa volcanic rim and visits to three bays, using the Banks Peninsula (BP) private tracks and accommodation had been previously arranged. The first night was spent at Onuku Homestead, The two wooden buildings sat on a very clear, man-made platform, the depression of one gateway being visible. MAS confirmed the existence of a 40m x 20m external wall sitting on the platform and three internal barrack blocks
