Yes. The earliest Dutch settlers called the Namaqua people ‘The Chinese Hottentots.’ They related the Namaqua people’s own claim that they were descendants of a shipwrecked Chinese junk which had rounded theCape.

South Africa – On the “wild coast”, the pure bushman language has at least 20 syllables that sound and mean the same in one of the Chinese languages.
