23 THE CATLINS: Surat Bay

SURAT BAY, CATLINS

Named after the ship which was wrecked on the point.

This Bay also appears to have been the graveyard for many of the Chinese fleet, presumably swept ashore in a storm. The resting places of six 47m x 11m Junks and one 100m x 50m Junk have been located.
